Why doesn't the body store ATP directly?
The body doesn't store ATP directly because one mole of ATP weighs approximately 500g (17.6 oz), which would be impractical for energy storage. For instance, a 70kg (154 lbs) person would need to carry around 30kg (66 lbs) of ATP to run a 10-kilometer race purely on stored ATP, which is unfeasible.
