What limitations do fat burners have regarding caloric surplus?

From 5 years of verified research · Vassili Sandqvist
A

Fat burners do not compensate for a caloric surplus; they can only marginally increase metabolic rate and fat mobilization during exercise. For example, a 5% metabolic boost on a 2,000 kcal total daily energy expenditure adds only about 100 kcal, which is insufficient to offset a significant caloric surplus.
