A

Ironic Process Theory explains that when you try not to think about something, you often end up thinking about it more intensely. This is because your brain’s tracking system doesn't process the word 'not', causing you to inadvertently illuminate the very thought you're trying to suppress.

This is one answer. The complete system — the psychology, the biology, and the method — is in the book.
