What is insulin resistance and how does it occur?

A

Insulin resistance is an adaptive mechanism where the receptors in your tissues become accustomed to a certain concentration of insulin or other hormones, leading to a diminished response. This means that both fat and muscle tissues start to poorly react to insulin, requiring the body to secrete more insulin to lower blood sugar levels. This condition can be linked to excess weight and testosterone issues.

This is one answer. The complete system — the psychology, the biology, and the method — is in the book.
