Q

How does training to failure impact muscle hypertrophy?

From 5 years of verified research · Vassili Sandqvist
A

Training to failure can enhance hypertrophy by ensuring that high-threshold motor units are fully recruited. As you approach failure, more motor units are activated, particularly the fast-twitch fibers that are most responsive to growth. However, research indicates that training close to failure, around 0-2 reps in reserve, can provide sufficient stimulus for hypertrophy without the drawbacks of reaching complete failure.

This is one answer. The complete system — the psychology, the biology, and the method — is in the book.
