Q

How does pulse rate correlate with fat loss during exercise?

A

The pulse rate does not necessarily indicate fat loss through aerobic oxidation of fatty acids. For instance, if someone is sitting on the couch with a high pulse due to caffeine or overeating, it does not mean they will lose weight. Weight loss during exercise occurs when there is a genuine need for ATP resynthesis, which happens when engaging in physical activity that requires oxygen, such as running. In contrast, a high pulse from stress or stimulants does not contribute to fat loss.

This is one answer. The complete system — the psychology, the biology, and the method — is in the book.
