How does muscle glycogen affect muscle appearance?
Muscle glycogen is stored with water at a ratio of approximately 3–4g (0.1 oz) of water per gram of glycogen. This relationship means that when glycogen stores are full, muscles appear larger and fuller due to the water creating cellular volume, resulting in a more defined look against subcutaneous fat.
